tuscany wine tasting and small plates
tuesday april 1st & tuesday april 2nd
6-8pm
maybe no region evokes italy as wholeheartedly as tuscany.
tuscany, in the centre of italy, with its endless rolling hills, medieval hill-top towns and vistas of cypress trees. tusany, the centre of the italian wine universe.
as you would imagine, the region is widely planted with vines. the sangiovese grape is the most widely planted and runs through the heart of it, giving rise to both the chianti and brunello docgs. and then you have the maremma, tuscany’s coastline, where the town of bolgheri is the beating wine heart and which produces the newer, but highly sought after “super tuscan” style.
accompanying our wine tasting will be a tuscan-inspired menu. the food of the region was largely “la cocina povera” or “poor food”, a cuisine that is rich in flavor but using everyday cheap ingredients. classics such as crostini, ribollita and bistecca alla fiorentina all hail from tuscany with its extensive and well-loved food heritage.
join us for a guided wine tasting through tuscany, with matched small plates from the gia kitchen. we will tasting 5 wines, including classic examples of chianti, brunello & super tuscan blends.

amaro happy hour
wednesday march 26th & thursday march 27th
4.30-6pm
at gia, we love amari!
amari, that range from the light aperitivo style through to the deeper, luscious sipping styles. the thing that unifies them is the “bitter” that is in their name. that, and the fact that their lists of ingredients run long and are fiercely guarded as family secrets.
we would love to share our passion with you and will be selecting 3 different amari to showcase for our happy hour evenings.
these evenings will be informal, and run as a happy-hour style drinks. space at our bar and front dining room will reserved for those with tickets. a ticket buys “flight and a bite”. this includes three one ounce pours and a choice of a bite from the new bar menu.
